Ecuador, 1970s. A girl eagerly awaits a phone call from her father, who is traveling in the Indian Ocean. Behind their communication, a telephone operator—with quick hands and a warm gaze—connects cables and people from all over the world.
Suddenly… a comet passes by Earth. The telephone network collapses. And then, a carrier pigeon takes action, leading the story in an unexpected turn full of imagination, emotion, and humor. The play is inspired by the book “Please, connect me to laughter?” by Zoi Vlachouta, a telephone operator for the Greek Telecommunications Organization (OTE) in the 1970s. A tender story about human contact, technology, patience, and hope—back when, in order to communicate… someone had to connect you.
