We took part in the 6th Athens Biennale ANTI with select advertising material from the Museum’s archive. This was a happy coincidence for the museum, since its central exhibition space is located in the emblematic Post Office, Telegraph and Telephone Directorate (TTT), later OTE’s administration offices on 15 Stadiou street in the center of Athens.
The Athens Biennale is part of an international large-scale network of periodic modern art events. The 6th Athens Biennale ANTI has planned a rich programme with performances, speeches, projections throughout the duration of the exhibition.
The largest part of the Exhibition is spread across the 5 floors of the building on 15 Stadiou Street, taking the visitor along a virtual journey balancing between reality and fantasy.
The Telecommunications Museum makes its own artistic “click” with a series of advertising posters, products and services from the 1950s to the 1990s that endured the test of time!
Advertising, through the indisputable power of the image and the slogan, has reflected at every historical moment the role models, attitudes, consumption behaviours and the general mentality of the society that creates it, and naturally of the company that produced it.
The posters present the development of technology of telecommunications in Greece, through OTE, during the ‘80s and mostly the ‘90s.
The time when the Telecommunications transitioned from the analogue method of message transmission to digital. And everything changed very quickly...
