Museums are celebrating
From May 15 to 18, we celebrated International Museum Day and World Telecommunication Day with a special four-day celebration filled with activities, creativity, and fun!
Inspired by this year’s message from the International Council of Museums (ICOM), “Museums Connect the World,” the activities highlighted the power of communication and telecommunications to bridge distances, bring people closer together, and help strengthen social cohesion.
In the art workshop “Inventions That Connected Our World,” we learned about the most important inventions in telecommunications and printed our favorite invention on canvas. In the STEM workshops, we learned how to send signals with lasers and programmed our robotic vehicles to move safely in simulated road conditions. A puppet show, a theatrical performance, and guided tours rounded out the program and gave young and old alike the chance to participate in this year’s celebration.
At the same time, through the art workshop “Smiling Prints,” we ventured beyond the Museum’s walls, to “The Smile of the Child” in Moschato and the “Center of Love” in Elefsina, where the children learned about the history of digital communication and, using the art of monotype, created their own colorful, smiling emojis!
