We visited the Pandolfini-Siaterli Engraving Centre in Athens, where we were welcomed by two great engravers, Pino and Dimitra, to show us the art of engraving and how to make our own engravings at home!
We never imagined that from a simple potato we could make a stamp and leave our imprint on paper.
But before viewing the video to create your own print, did you wonder who these two great artists were behind the initiative?
Dimitra Siaterli studied Painting and Interior Design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna. She has presented her works in Greece and abroad, and taught Engraving and Printed Art at the School of Fine Arts of the University of Western Macedonia.
Pino Pandolfini studied Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna. In addition to engraving, his work includes large sculptures, both indoor and outdoor. In 2020, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Federico Fellini, Pandolfini created a copperplate on the theme of Fellini’s childhood, which was printed on the press at the Athens Printmaking Centre and travelled as far as the town where both of them grew up: Gambettola, Italy.
Since 1977, the two engravers have welcomed artists, scholars, students and the general public in organized engraving classes at their workshop.
