World Television Day

One of the fist Television Studios in Greece at the Telecommunications Museum
The 21th of November has been designated by the UN as World Television Day. The date of the celebration was decided at the first World Television Forum, held on 21 and 22 November 1996 in New York.
The Forum was attended by representatives of the world's major media and discussed the growing importance of television in the modern world and possible ways of strengthening their cooperation in this field.
The operation of television in Greece began with experimental broadcasts in 1960, while in 1966 the National Radio Foundation (EIR) and the Armed Forces Television (TED) began regular broadcasting.
On the 2nd floor of the Telecommunications Museum, one of the first studios for the production of television programmes in Greece has been restored. It was built by the French company Thomson and acquired by OTE in 1968. It was used, among other things, for external broadcasts, as well as for the transmission of television signals and broadcasts from the OTE Tower in Thessaloniki during the period of the International Exhibition.
