How did we send messages before today’s text messages? And how long did it take for a message to reach its destination?
The journey begins with a tour of the exhibition, where children learn about Samuel Morse and the code he invented—an alphabet of dots and dashes that revolutionized the way people communicated up until then. They discover what telegrams were and how they were used in everyday life, and they get an up-close look at real telegrams as well as the telegraph messenger’s bicycle that was used to deliver them!
Then, in the classroom, they’ll make a unique envelope out of clay and write a personal message to send as a telegram to someone they love!
Reservations open 15 days before the date of each program
