What happens when a new technology seems… almost magical? And how do people try to explain what they don’t understand?
With Halloween as our inspiration, the journey begins at the Museum’s exhibition, where children discover how the telegraph, the telephone, and other technologies of the past caused surprise and fear when they first appeared, with some even believing that they transmitted messages… from the afterlife. Through these stories, the children connect the past with the present and come to understand that every new technology may initially seem unfamiliar or mysterious before it eventually becomes part of our daily lives.
Afterward, in the classroom, the children paint and decorate their own… “mysterious” pumpkins in an art workshop full of color, imagination, and creativity!
