The Museum travels for the first time to the most remote schools of Greece

This year, for the first time, the Museum is travelling to the most remote schools of Greece, holding online art workshops in an effort to recreate the atmosphere of its exhibits and Collections. Distances, after all, are minimised when one converses through art and technology.

Students of Kindergarten and Elementary School (1st to 6th grade) will have the opportunity to take part in two different workshops titled “The museum in our suitcase” (4th-6th grades) & “Musical Instruments from recycled materials” (Kindergarten, 1st & 2nd grade), which deal with important topics such as recycling and the protection of the environment. Inspired by the work “The Suitcases” by Alexis Akrithakis, students, guided by artists and a museum educator, will make their own artistic “suitcase” using recycled materials from telephones, sounds and stories, while the younger students will construct their own musical instruments, such as drums, maracas, bells, making sounds of telecommunication devices with them. Ten schools from remote locations in the country participate online in each programme (250 students), while the Museum sends a Kit Box to them with all the materials needed for the workshop. In total, 8 programmes will be held this school year.
